Learning Areas:
These two classes are the start of the senior division, grade 000. Children listen and participate in theme discussions daily. Preparation for formal schooling is now concentrated on in more depth. Children are taught how to hold a crayon as well as a pair of scissor correctly. Their cutting, threading and moulding skills are practised daily through age appropriate activities. Puzzle building skills is encouraged on a regular basis. Learners are exposed to a variety of perception games, numbers, shapes and colours. Science and baking activities form part of the daily programme. Children are taught how to express themselves clearly and communicate fluently with their teachers and peers. Life skills such as manners, respect, hygiene are taught throughout the day. Activities such as story time, songs and rhymes and daily discussion are planned to help develop their language skills. Senior daily programme is followed. Weekly preparation is done by the teacher based on the theme of the week and approved by the H.O.D.
